My great great grandmother, Judith
Shaffrey/Shaffery b. 1817 Moynalty Parish,
Co. Meath married Joseph Maxwell b. 1815
probably Moynalty, Co. Meath
married in Moynalty in 1834 - children
include Dennis, James,
Ellen (my great grandmother who married
Thomas McLaughlin in Newport NY January 5, 1869),
Catherine and Judith all born in Moynalty -
then Ann and Bedelia born in NY in the 1850's.
Let me know if anything seems to connect.
Thank you. Keaton

Kathleen,
I will lokk at every thing I have to find a connection. I know my Mathew Shaffrey was from Co. Meath and was born around 1822. Do you know if Judith had a brother or cousin by that name? I was in Co. Meath last October and went to the library there to look up info on the Shaffreys. I got a list but have to go back to the census to find out more I have that on order. The lady at the library was a Shaffrey by birth, daughter of Christopher Shaffrey. I had written to him earlier on but haven't.
made a connection yet.
If I find anything on Judith I will pass it on to you. Let me know anything else you have on the Shaffreys. Please keep in touch,
Georgia Murray

George -
Thank you for your response. I have forwarded your message to cousins who just might have more information than I. Will certainly let you know anything that I discover about the Shaffery connection and Co. Meath. Sorry that at this time, all I know is Moynalty, Co. Meath and Judith Shaffery marrying a Maxwell and having some of their children there. Then on to NY.
Thanks, again. Kathleen

Kathleen,
Thanks for your reply, and thanks for passing the question around to your cousins. The more Shaffrey researchers we can get on this board to share information the better. There aren't alot of us on planet, at least not with this spelling. I'm still looking for a connection to John and Mathew. I know there were alot of Shaffreys Co. Meath. When I was checking the IGI records there were quite a few there at that time having children, unfortunately the time frame was in the 1860's and that was about 20 to 40 years later than where I need to be in my research. Keep in touch!

We are certainly connected! I know this post is from 10 years ago but am hoping this message gets to you. I am a great-great granddaughter of Thomas McLaughlin and Ellen Maxwell. My mother was born and raised in Napa as were both of her parents of which her father, Richard J. Flanagan is the grandson of Thomas and Ellen. Contact me if you can. zelsersk@surewest.net
