Humphrey TALLMAN-TOLMAN was born 1759 according to an 1818 military listing in Noyan, Missisquoi Co. He was then listed as "Omphra Tollman" aged 59 and married. His 2nd wife was Sarah GILFILLAN, (b. c1774) who was living with him at that time. By 1830, Humphrey was living at Hemmingford, and donated Lot #90 in the 2nd Concession to his son David. Other children listed were Mary (who was wife of John SCOTT of Noyan, PQ), Dexter, and Gilbert. A later document mentions son Joseph. It is likely he also is teh father of Daniel and John. He was still living at Hemmingford at the time of the 1842 census. I have located no death record for him, nor a gravestone. Does anyone know when he died?

In 1860, widow Sarah TALLMAN, ae 86, was living Mooers, NY w/ the Edward LARRABY family. Need death for her, too. Would love to hear from anyone else researching TALLMAN. He is written as a Loyalist in Seller's book, but was originally granted land in Sutton, PQ. For some years during the 1790's and later, he resided Noyan, QC. In 1776, there was a Humphrey TALLMAN living at Bristol Co, MA, whom I believe to be the same one.

Lauralie,

I know we have spoken before -- we are working towards raising enough money to be able to pay for a Humphrey Tallman DNA donor. If interested in helping out, please let me know. The 25 marker test costs $169 but with small donations, we should meet that in no time. Sharon Brady's brother has "offered" to be the donor. He is descended through Humphrey's son David.
