Hi Could anyone shed some light on a member of my family I am stuck on.
Her name was Veva(vera)Roughan born in 1896
St Georges Hanover Sqaure London .
She died Ashford Kent 09/09/1955, Veva Latreille I cant find any record of her marraige maybe some one will have the answer? Martin

Hello Martin, do you know where and when their first child was born? It's best to work back from what you know. Then look for them in the census.

As for Latreille, you are aware that it is an adopted name? What french Canadian call a "dit" name. So the groom may have married under his family's original name dit Latreille or simply the first part. I don't think this custom was used in England, so the original name is most likely french.

Is there a chance that your Veva was a war bride? Do you happen to have her husband's first name? Date of birth? I don't have any Latreille married to a Roughan in my database but I only researched this name in Canada. If they lived here for a while, I might be able to help.

Hi Joanne Veva Roughan was born 1896 St George Hanover square according to the 1901 census there are no records of her marraige or her death that i can find,I recently found her father grave and she is buried there along with her mother but on the memorial she is named Veva Latreille died 09/09/1955 she was my aunt,my father John Edward Roughan died in 1966 so finding info is becoming very difficult, many thanks Martin

Sorry I only realized after I sent the message that the chances of her having children before 1912 are pretty slim, so census are of no use.

Do you have a copy of her death certificat? It should include the full name of her husband.
