There has been a story told in my family that one of the Zumbrun's came over from Germany on a boat that went down. The boy was around 8 years old and was the only survivor. He was then raised by Quakers. I thought it might be Johann although my Mother always said his name was George. If anyone has heard this story please let me know.
Thanks

The same story is in the front of a genealogy I have that was compiled quite a few years ago - perhaps in the 1970's by Madeleine Rummel. However my own research on ancestry.com indicates that the ancestor who came from Germany was Heinrich. My maiden name is Zumbrum. Some of the family spelled it with an "n", some with an "m".

I have a public tree on ancestry.com. If you care to send me your email, I'll send you an invitation so you can view my tree.
