Hi: I notice you have information on Breuer/Gessner in your Paukens records.
I suspect that Catherine Gessner's Parents were Stephen and Catherine (Puhl) Gessner of Maumee Ohio.

Catherine (Puhl) Gessner married Mathias Breier/Breuer of Buchel Germany in Maumee after Stephens Death and had additional children (including my g grandmother Catherine (Breier) Weis/Wise. Does this info fit into your Breuer line anywhere?

Hi Tom:

I have read with interest your 16 Dec 2002 e-mail "Descendants of Anton Pauken" and have focused on my connection with the children of Johan Pauken and Maria Breuer, in particular John Pauken, b 1866 and his wife "Deny Pool." Information in my files indicates that John's wife was Christina Puhl, born December 22, 1864, Maumee, Lucas County, Ohio; died July 07, 1945 Toledo, Lucas County. John and Christina were married 16 June 1892 at St. Joseph's Church, Maumee. Following is Christina's obituary. The obit indicates that she was John's widow.

I'm confused by a couple of things you mention in your posting. When you said that you suspect that Catherine GESSNER's parents were Stephen & Catherine (PUHL) GESSNER are you refering to the Catherine GESSNER that married Mathias PAUKEN? If so that Catherine's parents are Andrew GESSNER (b. 10 Oct 1827) & Catheirne RAAB (b. 6 Sept 1837). Also the only Stephan Gessner I have was born 26 Dec 1888 & died 10 Aug 1889, the son of Peter GESSNER & Anna NOE. Peter & Catherine GESSNER were brother & sister.

Sorry:My Catherine Puhl Gessner Breier's parents were Michael Puhl and Suzanne Langendorfer also from Marpingen Germany and all were in Maumee Ohio. Catherine marrried Michael Gessner and after his death married Mathias Brier/Breier I suspect that your Gessners and mine are probably cousins. There is an error by someone in Ancestry saying the name was Gettner but that is wrong and can't get them to fix it. I was just curious which Catherine you were talking about in your posting as there are quite a few in that area. I had the wrong name Stephen is a son. Sorry. Thanks

It does get quite confusing sometimes when siblings & cousins use the same names (as well as succesive generations or those who marry into the family, too). But then again trying to sort them all out is part of the ?fun of doing genealogy, as well as it sends you down some of the collateral lines where you can often find answers to the puzzles. Thanks! If you ever need any info on Andrew's line let me know.

Ritajean,

Hi! I am currently researching Suzanne Langenderfer and her brothers and sisters who immigrated to the US. (I am a g-g-g-grandaughter of Suzanne's brother Nicholas). I have been able to follow Michael and Suzanne's children Jacob and Michael Peter through the census records, however I lost Catherine after 1850. I was very excited to see your note that she remarried Mathias Brier. That helps me so much!

I was wondering if we might be able to exchange more information on Michael and Suzanne's children. Please let me know if you'd be interested.

(I realize this should probably be in the Puhl surname message board, but I wasn't sure you check there regularly, so I posted here ;)

Hope to hear from you!
Thanks!!
Lynn
