GREEN Giles/Jiles & Jane

GREEN Giles/Jiles & Jane

Surnames: GREEN
I'm looking for others who are researching this family or descendants. The Greens married approx in 1871 in Gilmer Co. Giles/Jiles was born 1852 and Jane in 1854 (apparently both in Georgia). In 1880, the family lives in Cherry Log, Gilmer Co. In 1910, they live in Sugar Creek. According to the census, they had at least the following children: Nancy, Mary (our line), Martha, Robert, Lockirt/Logan, Arnie, Stonewall. Both died in 1922 in Ellijay and are buried in the Blue Ridge Cemetery. Appreciate any information. Thanks.

I have checked the marriage records for Gilmer Co., GA 1835-1960 by Pitts & Jones and do not find a marriage for G(J)iles Green and Jane.

However, I did find this marriage in Fannin Co., GA marriage records 1854-1941 by Jones:
GREEN, G. N./Jane Henson..1 Feb. A. J. Douthit JP

Thanks so much for the info, Pat! I'm sure that this is the marriage I have been looking for. The approx 1871 date came from the 1910 census. Thanks also for the death record info. I've checked and the info on Giles Green in 1922 is provided by his son R.G. Green, who lived in Ellijay, Route 4. I was wondering whether any of his descendants might still be living in Ellijay.

I'm pretty sure, but have not found proof yet, that our Mary Green (born 1874; 1879 per 1910 census) who married William Julius ("Jules") Smith on 13 September 1895, in Fannin County, is the daughter of Giles and Jane Green. I have their names from another record. Trying to find out more about this family.

Thanks again for your help,

Wow, just by chance punched in Giles Green and Jane Henson. Had researched dad's side (Green) in the 80s... have Giles as being born 8/24/1855 and was interested in Robert Lee Green his son. Good luck and also reinterested in finding more about the tree. Thanks!

Thanks for your response! I've seen the name Robert Lee on the census. I'm all at the beginning of this line though. Basically, I'm trying to determine whether their daughter Mary Green was the one who married William Bennett Smith in Fannin County. I think so, but have not yet found any records except that Mary's mother was Jane Green. Do you have any details about the Green family?

Ooops...made a mistake in the above response. Mary's husband is William Julius (Jules) Smith (Bennett is his father). Sorry about that. Karin
