This caught my eye. My maiden name is Rinehart--my great grandmother was Thursey(Hall)--who decends from Mahalia (Toliver) Hall, and as we have traced with hopefully, accuracy, to Bartholomew Taliaferro who was born in Venice, Italy in 1530. Would this reunion be of this line???

I mispelled the Taliaferro on the subject line in my first message.

Mary,
Aren't we all kin somwhere down the road? We haven't documented as far as you, yet. With certainty, we go to Lewis Franklin Tolliver/Toliver b. c1830. There are more coming to the reunion than just our line. It would be a great chance to hob-nob with multiple groups and discuss family lines.

Cynthia Toliver  (View posts) Posted: 14 Jul 2000 1:53AM GMT
My name is Cynthia{Cyndee} Toliver. Many years ago my father
told me that our last name was really pronounced Taliafarro
I am very curious about my back ground on my dads side of the family
He said that they were from the south and slave owners had trouble
pronouncing Taliafarro so called us Toliver. The Toliver's pronounced with two
L's stayed in the south and the Toliver's with one L went to west or north.
Something like that, It was so long ago when my Dad told me.
Anyway I live in Anchorage,Alaska. I have Family from Washington,California and I think thats about itr
If any one has any information for me please contact me on Black Planet-Cyndee1. Im
23 yrs. old, half Alaskan native half black. Thank you very much, Cyndee.

If you have any geneology info I would LOVE it if you could share it with me!

Hi Cynthia:
I was told the same thing about my mother's maiden name. That their name was Taliaferro but it was changed to Toliver. I was told to make it shorter. Is it more behind this name change. My Grandfather's name was Thomas Toliver(Taliaferro), he past in the 1960's. My Grandmother's name is Gussie Toliver. I don't know really much beyond that. Please respond. Thank you. Looking forward to hearing from you.
