I may have a hook-up with your Sarah Dudley. I have her listed as S.A...I'm the g-g-granddaughter of her brother, George. I have 10 total sibs in their family. Their parents were John Dudley (b. in Virginia) and Magaret (a.k.a. Peggy, Nancy) SPROWLS (b. in Ireland, per an entry on her son John Henry's death certificate). There's some mystery surrounding the name of the mother...a census says "Nancy" and other documents call her "Peggy" and "Margaret" (which makes some sense...Peggy is a common nickname for Margaret). Perhaps she used a middle name? I have tons of information on Sarah's other sibs...looking forward to hearing from you!

I am happy you found that data as I did not know the sprowls came from Ireland what I need to know is John Dudleys Ancestry so that I can link him into the Dudleys within the states at that time and connect it all to the Dudleys of Europe Whose Genealogy I Have and is Royal and Noble lineages.Email me at drkatnip@tls.net

Just got back from Adair County...some interesting wrinkles to the Sprowles story. Although her family listed her as being born in Ireland, I found two census records that listed her as being born in Tennessee. The plot thickens...
I'll post if anything comes to light.

As for John Dudley's parents, I didn't uncover anything in my research in Adair. There is a William and Sarah Dudley in Adair and a Thomas in Green Co (adjacent to Adair) on census records. John's wedding bond was attested by Thomas, but I have no way of knowing from the document if Thomas is a brother, the father, or another relative. There is reason to believe John was born in Virginia, based on census data and on family records. If we could connect him back to a Virginia branch of the Dudleys, I think we'd have fair success in tracing him back to England...they're a pretty well-documented bunch. I've tried to hook up with the various branches on Rev. Gary Dudley's extensive web database, but no luck. I'll keep you posted.
