Matthew Turner was in the 1860 Trigg Co., KY household of a Young and C.A. Galyon. Young was the son of a Joshua Gallion who was in the 1840 and 1850 Alabama censi. Joshua was born around 1775 in Surry Co., NC to Jacob and Eliz. Arnold Gallion who themselves were married 1753 in Harford Co., MD. Jacob was born ca. 1733 to Thomas and Mary Young Gallion who themselves were married ca. 1731 in Harford Co. Thomas was born ca. 1707 to John and Mary Wright? Gallion also of Harford. John was born ca. 1670 to the original Gallion immigrant to America, Joseph Gallion. Joseph Gallion came to Maryland in 1664 from London, England where he was born in 1633 to Wm.and Joan Palmer Gallion. Wm. and Joan Palmer were married ca. 1615 in Chigwell,Essex. Wm. was born in 1592 to unknown parents in London, England. The Gallion name goes back in scattered London records to the mid 1300s and in English records to 1160. The name itself is considered to be of French origin with the original spelling being Gallienne. I hope this has been helpful.
What can you tell me about Turner's descendants.
George T. Galyon

In your research have you run across a Thomas Galyean that had a son named Thomas born in 1787 and probably lived his final days in Wayne City, Ohio? I'd appreciate any information you may be able to provide. TIA

Hi, George. Do you know if Joshua was the father of Samuel Galyean b 1812, married Susan Mitchell, d 1898, buried near Corinth, MS? If so, he would be my gggggf. My grandmother was Molly Florence, daughter of Tobias (Tobe), son of Thomas Jefferson. Thanks in advance..
