Seeking any info on my Grandfather (Pa), Walter G. Montford; born 08 Nov 1883, Waycross, Ga. and his father John C. Montford (?), Ga. Anything on these two will be more than I have. I can not seem to find any records on Ware Co., Ga., I know there was a fire in 185?. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there--
My grandfather Edward Montford has done extensive genealogical study on the Montford name, and may have some info for you. Most if not all of our family are based in the Northeast, but we have Johns and Walters in previous generations. Who knows, right? Please contact me if you'd like to get in touch with Ed about his research:

My name is Lillian Montfort from Georgia. You were born April 1948, if my mind serves me. I was a nurse and mid-wife at the time of your birth. Your mother, god rest her soul, had no clue as to who fathered you dear. It could have been one of many. She was a women of let us just say easy pickins'. I am sure you knew that. I felt so sorry for her and the children she bore; there were two before you and one after. But, Montford was not one of her men. She may have taken my father Wally and my grandfather Johnson Montfort's name and used them for personal reason, I know they had no knowledge of her. I could not begin to imagine not knowing who my father was. You find comfort in the Lord because only he knows the truth.

God Bless you,
Lillian Montfort

Mr. Montford,
Did your mother have a half brother named Walter? I think he was called by another name a nickname perhaps. He should have been much older than her, I remember a man in his late 20's short stocky built, sandy blond hair and brown eyes. Not very handsome to say the least. I must tell you my dear that he may be your biological father. I remember your mother speaking of such an idea of rape. I believe your Unlce was your Father! I hope this brings you some help in your quest.

Blessings,
Lillian Montfort
