My Great G. G. Grandfather had a son John born in 1838 at Lumphanan & in 1871 had a 6.5 acre farm at Burnside.

Also My GG grandfather, Andrew too, son on GGG grandfather who was Andrew, had a son John born in Coull on 31/5/1869. I have not established descendants of this John.

Have you gone back that far . An uncle of mine thought my G grandfather had a brother who went to the states . I am not sure of you place state III ?

Is there a connection to your John ? I am in Australia.

Bill Lawson

Hi Cindy
Where in Scotland was your Alexander born ? I have found that often the first born was named after the father .My GGG grandfather Andrew[ school teacher ] had a brother Alexander born 13 Feb 1803 but I have not been able to find Alexander's marriage ,children or his death . Was your Alexander his son ? The place of birth would be a real clue to a possible connection . All my ancesters were from around Lumphanan ,Cushnie & Kincardine O'Neil north & east of Balmoral castle .

William [ Bill ] Lawson Brisbane Aust.

At this stage I haven't come across A first born Andrew followed by Alexander Unless they are sons of Alexander born Feb. 1803 whose brothers were Andrew born sep 1801, John apr 1799 & Francis born june 1806.

You will need to find out where your Alexander & his brother were born.

Regards
William Lawson
