Since my 26Nov2001 question caused Little Calamity's dismay, in response to her request, I'm starting a new new message. Here is info about the Guinty's I'm researching:

My gg Daniel Guinty who came to the US in 1847 and was naturalized in 1858. His witnesses were Dennis and Michael Guinty. I only have the naturalization records for Daniel & Dennis. Daniel and Dennis were teenagers. I don't have the naturalization records for Michael.

I also have a census record that shows their parents to be Patrick and Mary Guinty, living in LaSalle, IL in 1850, along with the siblings in the subject. I believe the Patrick and Mary died their of cholera, I don't know if some of the children might also have died then. I do know that Michael served in the Civil War and lived in the Preemption, IL area, then married Sophronia Wood, and they moved to Kansas.

Daniel married Marcella Dooner in LaSalle and they moved to Henry County, IL, and lived in Rock Island County, IL in their later years.

I'm willing to share the info I have and am looking for anyone who has info of any members of this family.

Lynne,
If you have reason to believe that your Guinty family came from Roscommon (as I suspect), please contact me directly. I may have some connections for you and would be happy to exchange information. MaryLDunn@aol.com

Michael was my great grandfather. The house on the land he homesteaded in Kansas was still there when I was growing up and we lived on my grandmother (Hattie) portion of the land that she inherited when her father died. This is Butler county Kansas. My grandmother married David Lambert and my father ( one of 4 children) Hubert married Bernyce Larsen. They have two girls- myself and my sister. My married name is Rose and I live in Arizona , my oldest son is named Michael after my greatgrandfather. My sister is Judy Guy and she lives in Montana. My father and his sister have a lot of civil war papers for Michael. He rose to the rank of Captain before the civil war was over. I also have copies of his picture along with his wife's.
