Here is more information about Whitnells, from my notes gathered at LDS Family History Center for different sites in Somerset County, England.

Isaac Whitnell, son of Wm and Mary, July 22, 1832.

Burials:
Mary (Whitnel?) Smith, bd. Dec. 29, 1869, age 94, Westhay.

Here are two bits of information I found about Whitnells:

Charles Whitnell, born in Catcott, Somersetshire, was listed in the 1851 Census, age 28, living in the village of Rattery, Devonshire (Family #500160). He was an SD Railway Policeman. His son Charles was also listed as age 8 months.

From a database dedicated to newspaper articles from the 1700s and 1800s:

From the Bridgewater and Somerset Advertiser, 17, October 1831:
"William Whitnell, tenant sale of land at Catcott."

The rest of the notes I have are from Ashcott Parish Records, which I will post later.

Sure hope all this helps somebody!

John Whitnell buried 1735, with his mother Mary. His father was Thomas Whitnell.
