I am seeking info on the Medlock family who lived in Breathitt County. My g-g-grandfather was William Medlock
(son of James & Polly Little Medlock) who married Nancy Spicer (daughter of Andrew Jackson & Mary Polly Watts Spicer). Does anyone know who James's parents were? I know he originally came from Lee County, VA. Any info on any of this family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just checking through some old mail. Did you find James's parents George and Martha Medlock?

No, Joe, I still have not been able to find out who James' parents were. Do you have any information on the George and Martha that you mentioned? I would certainly appreciate any help at all in locating James' parents. Thanks so much.

Joe.....I do not know.
I just know that James M. Matlock, son of George and Margaret, was born abt 1840 (per census) so he would have only been 10 years old in 1850. He died 19 Feb 1864 per gravestone Oakwood Cemetery, Greenfield, IL. William, son of George and Margaret, was born 5 Jan 1830 m Susan Wright in Trimble Co, KY, moved to Greenfield by 1854 and was always a farmer, even after he moved to AL. He died 26 Dec 1906 Irvington, Mobile, AL and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Greenfield, IL. His son, Frank George Matlock, was a cousin to my GGrandmother Eloise Callaway Williams who moved to Mobile, AL from Greenfield. There was also a William C. Matlock, who I believe was a son of William Cooper Matlock, who died of a gunshot wound about 1840, Mobile m Carolyn Ranirez (spelling per Mobile County marriage records). He would have been a cousin of George, fathers William Cooper and John being brothers, sons of David Lee Matlock. I have to find the Mobile papers that told of that incident.
I wonder about my James middle initial M. cannot find it written out in any of the things I have inherited (perhaps Moore?????. He was the last child of George and Margaret. I am still pursueing the probability that Margaret was a Hutchisson, so could be from her family.
I am still searching KY, IL, and AL records
I corresponded a while back with you on this when I first started my genealogy quests, and did not have all the information that I now have.
I have sent a lot of it to Brenda to put on her Matlock website.
