My maiden name was Saccomanno, whose family settled in Western NY in the early 1900's from Sicily. I was surprised to see so many of us out there and more than surprised to find us in Utah.

Hey Bette Jo. I'm not aware of anyone in the family with the name Ralph, but I'll check with the others to see if they may know. This is great to meet someone with the same last name that isn't Smith or Jones. LOL Talk to you soon and hopefully with more info.

My maternal grandfather was Joseph Saccomanno.
He lived in Salida Colorado. After my grandmother's
death in 1916 the family lost track of him.
He was married to Rosaria Pulice in 1915.
I am seeking information about him. Did
any member's of your family move to Colorado
in the earlier part of this century to work
on the railroad?

Let me know.

Thanks!

Wanted to tell you that my Grandfather Ralph was also from Italy, Calabria and the Gramaldi area as I know it, came through Elis Island, moved to Colorado and became a timberman in the mines around Henson and later moved to Treasure Colorado, (I plan to visit both locations this summer and see the environment). Found work in Washington State in a town named Northport and later moved to Spokane, (opened a food store and it failed...went in to farming and it failed also. His last place of employment was Idaho, Kelloge (sp) and he died from lung desease from working the mines for so many years shortly after that. He was married to Joesphine who later became Bossio. They had four children, Marylou, Margaret, Francis, and Robert Saccomanno. They lived in Washington State, Spokane even after grandfather died and then the family moved to California. Grandfather Soccomanno is bearied in Spokane Washington but I do not know where. I will try to find out more information and respond. Please contact my email address and we can talk. Thank you.
