Welwyn Cemeteries

Sorry to ask such a basic question as I'm a reasonably experienced family historian, but I've discovered my great uncle Lionel Frederic Thomas HODGES was buried in Welwyn (not WGC) on 20th Feb 1941. Sadly I don't know which church or cemetery was used but it would be C of E. I've written to the people at @welhat.gov.uk but they only have 2 cemeteries (patently the wrong ones) and little other useful advice.

I've looked on a number of confusing, badly organised Hertfordshire genealogy pages and am struggling to find sources or archives for Herts burial records for 1941. Has anyone any advice? p.s. I'm reluctant to join Herts FHS for one look up! Thanks Robert

Hi, You may be aware but there is a Web site where some cemeteries can be visited by a volunteer for a look. I do not know if Welwyn is covered. The site is WWW.Churchyards.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index.htm

Hi Melvin,

Thanks for that I'll check it out. I'm pleased to be speaking to a Welwyn local as I'm also looking for my relation Lionel Hodges last known properties(1941), 'The Ridge', 'The Ridge Cottage' and nearby 'Hilden', at Oaklands, Welwyn. Any clues?

Many thanks
Robert
