Abel Strickland born 1775 in England - wed Jane Goforth born 1770, New Jersey
Children all born in Virginia:

Abel b. 1809

Abagail b. 1814
Rachel b. 1818
Jane b. 1826

Abagail married Willis Edmonds
Their son, James Edmonds, married Jalina Jaycox
Children of James and Jalina were

Minnie - married Mathew Houk
Della Abagail - married Thomas Moyer
Lena - married Bruce Luckett
William - Married Jessamine Meade
Daisy born Feb 21, 1883 married Robert H. Brown

Daisy and Robert parents of:

Evelyn M (Brown) Meade (Dan)
Joseph H. (wife Mildred Crocker)
Herbert Stanley (wife Dorothy McClurg)
Robert H. (died at age 4)

Henry Strickland b. 1807 (son of Abel and Jane) married Jane Goforth (b. 1815) and they lived in
South Carolina, Virginia, Henry died 1860 Henry and Jane had seven children and were born in
either North Carolina or Tennessee

Abel married Anna Hasty
Susan married Jonas Thurman (my gggreat uncle) after sister Nancy died at childbirth
Jonas and Nancy only had one child but several with Susan (I can find the names if you want)

Abel Strickland (1838) married Anna E. Hasty (b. 1842 Dutch)
Abel died Sept 1907
Anna E. Died Jan. 1908 (buried at Imboden, MO. on farm own by Hodges near MaryÂ’s Chapel)
also buried there are Jane, Tollet, Joe, Nancy, and Sallie

Abel (Bile) Strickland (b. 1838) son of Henry and Jane Strickland came to Missouri by was of Potosi in the middle 1800s. The group camped at a place that was later called Caledonia, this was the eve of Christmas. The travelled in covered wagons along with families of Thomas and Edmonds from the state of Tennessee. These families settled in the area of Belleview and Imboden.

Anna E. Hasty (b. 1842) The family came from the state of Tennessee, settled in Osage County, and the later to Imboden.

Abel and Anna had eight children:

Henry b. 1862 - wife was Martha Shrum (had nine girls, one son Abel died 21 years old)
Isabelle b. 1864 - married Henry Thurman (my gggreat grandfather) children were John, Ervin, Iva Mae
Oscar, Charley, Annie and Arthur died in infancy) second husband Frank Moore
Daniel b. 1867 - wife Lizzie Flowers
Tollet b. 1870
Joseph b. 1873 - died at age 19 or 21
Charles b. 1875 (Darrell MillerÂ’s grandfather)
Susan b. 1878 - married Hurt, no children
Nancy b. 1880 married Jim McIntyre no children (died at childbirth)

A stone at the Imboden cemetary for Abel and Anna and children has these names listed
JANE, TOLLET, JOE, NANCY AND SALLY.

Isabelle Strickland b. 4-13-1864, Imboden, MO, Methodist in religion
married Wm. Henry Thurman in 1885 near Potosi, MO
Wm Henry Thurman born Nov 25, 1856 near Iron Mountain (s/o Henry Thurman (b. 1832) and Melinda Shrum
He was an only child. He began as a farmer but then became a stone cutter at the Graniteville Quarry he had pneumonia several times and this same illness caused his death on Jan 19, 1902, 45 yrs and 2 mo

Children were:

John Henry b. Jan 21, 1887 - wife Flora Edmonds, one son Paul had Jaundice and pneumonia
Annie b. Mar 16, 1889 died at 18 months buried by father
Ervin Franklin (my ggreat grandfather) b. July 3, 1891 died Feb 10, 1952
Iva Mae b. Nov 17, 1893 married Milliard Winifred Crocker Mar 11, 1914, d. Sept 17, 1982
Arthur - b. April 15, 1896, buried by father
Samuel Oscar b. Oct 29, 1898
Charles Roy, b. June 18, 1901

In 1904, Isabelle Strickland remarred to Frank Moore (b. March 31, 1876) He was a wonderful stepfather to the children and worked in the Graniteville Quarry. Died Jan 17, 1934.
Isabelle suffered from gall bladder and stomach problems. Died Dec 7, 1933 and is buried in the Leadwood cemetary next to Frank

I AM VERY INTERESTED WHERE YOU GOT YOUR INFORMATION ABOUT ABEL AND JANE. WHAT PART OF ENGLAND DID ABEL COME FROM AND WHERE IN THE STATES DID ABEL ENTER? DO YOU HAVE IMMIGRATION RECORDS. I AM TRYING TO FIND MY DIRECT LINEAGE. THE THOMAS AND JOHN ARE PART OF OUR FAMILY NAME IN NORTH CAROLINA. THE HENRY STRICKLAND NAME GOES INTO GLENVILLE, GEORGIA (TATTNALL CO. do you have your ears on? Time is of essence for all stricklands that may be related to this wilson strickland of texas. Money is involved and time is wasting. OK First I want to ask you Phil if you think this Henry was the Henry from Tattnall Co. Georgia who had 3 wives and 20 children. There was a Henry Strickland, a galant man from Glennville Georgia who signed the secession from the union. His father was an Aaron Strickland from NCarolina. Is this Wilson Strickland that went to Texas and now we are fighting for his money?

Able Stricklin was the son of Joseph Stricklin and Abigail Cooke, he was the younger brother of my ancestor Samuel Stricklin. Joseph and Abigail lived in Amherst Va. I have their will on the Stricklin family page, if you would like to see it you can email me and I will send you an invitation any information you have on your Stricklins Stricklands will be welcome, especially descendants of Abel and Jane Go Forth.

THIS MAN BORN MARCH 1843 AND DIED SEPT 1930, MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER. MARRIED 3 TIMES AND ONE MISTRESS AND DID INDEED HAVE 23 CHILDREN.
CHILDREN NAMES I CAN FURNISH IF NEEDED.HAD A SON WILSON COLVIN BORN 1868 AND DIED 1936, AND 22 OTHERS. LET ME KNOW IF THIS INFO HELPS. I AM LOOKING FOR INFO ON BENJAMIN ROBERTSON, OR ROBINSON WHO WAS BORN IN CASS COUNTY GA. ABOUT 1863 0R 64 AND MOVED TO TEXAS, DON'T KNOW WHERE..tHANKS
