Phyllis,
We are trying to locate information on Jane Deighton born on April 5, 1609 in Gloucestershire, England and died in 1671 in the US. She married Jonathan Negus on October 27, 1647?? in England or in US??? Her father was Dr. John Deighton born in 1570 and died on May 16, 1640 in Gloucestershire, England. Her mother was Jane Bassett born in Uley County, England and died on April 23, 1631. If you can help me out in any way in this matter I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much
Doug

My husband's grt grt granfather was a Walter Whittlesea Deighton. He came from Godmanchester in Huntingdon. O have found him and his family (and number of other Deightons in that area) on the 1881 Census. His father it appears was a Whittlesea Deighton of Godmanchester. Is anyone else researching this line?

Hi,

Perhaps. Whitlesea is such an unusual name that there must be a connection, but need to do some more work to find out how direct!

I've just moved house so probably need a few weeks to organise myself and do some more work on this line - will get back in touch with you either way when I've got further back!

Reply to Deighton. Our Deighton family is not connected to Whittlesea Deighton family - unfortunately altho they probably knew one another. For a tremendous genealogy on the Whittlesea Deighton line please contact: boborr@abelink.com
Thank you. Our Deighton line comes from Bartholomew Deighton of Huntingdon. Kindly reply as I find this new system confusing!

Our Deighton line is from Bartholomew Deighton of Huntingdon. Unfortunately we are not from the Wittlesea Deighton line of Godmanchester. For a tremendous genealogy on the Wittlesea Deighton line please contact: boborr@abelink.com
Bob Orr did bring in a Parish Deighton to his Wittlesea Deighton line. Parish is from our line - unfortunately Parish was transported to Australia. I find this new system a bit confusing.

To Doug Negus: Doug, it sounds like you and I have the same roots. My line is from Jonathan to Isaac Sr. to Isaac Jr., who I know little about except Isaac Jr. had a son Thomas. Then Thomas had a family of four children of which my line is from Shadlock and so on down to John, then another Isaac who married Mary Coppock. this Isaac and Mary had ten children & #10, Anna Mary Negus is my grandmother. I do not have much Info . on your question, however I could not resist at least saying Hi. I would be happy to share what I do have if you would like. I have been able to trace back to the Kings & Queens of England. Only wish there were more hours in the days. Hope this finds youall well. Bob e-mail betty.bob@gte.net

Phyllis, I have just read your query re: Deighton names in Huntington. I am very interested to find out about my Great Grandma - Emily Elizabeth Field who was born in Wrawby, in 1855, Linconshire and married my Great Grandfather John Field on 1st April 1872 in Huntington.

I am assuming that her family must have moved from Wrawby to Huntington at some stage and perhaps are related to Deightons there.

I am trying to find a tree relating to her and her family.
