My ancestors: Henry William Hunsley, b. 29 March 1807 in Broughton-by-Brigg, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of Charles Hunsley (of Manton) & Ann Clipson (daughter of George Clipson of Horncastle)
Married: Francis Burton before 1832 & came to Canada between 1852 & 1855. The family settled in Oxford Co., Ontario & then moved to Illinois in 1880.
I would be very interested in exchanging information with anyone researching these families.
Thanks in advance, Rita in Montana

I have my great grandfather William (Bill) Henry Burton (Feb. 25, 1881 - July 20, 1934) originating from Lincolnshire England and immigrating to Woodstock, Ontario, Canada (Oxford County).
He was married to a "Midge" Tilford Burton. Midge died (I believe enroute to Canada - not too sure about this) and he married her sister Alice Tilford.
I have not been able to research past William Henry. I thought that maybe you might have this person in your info. If this person sounds familiar, please post a message back!
Not too many people looking for Burtons in Oxford County from Lincolnshire England!
Thanks in advance,
Heather Burton

In response to Heather Burton & Rita Gibbs Vail who are researching Burton family members who emigrated from Lincolnshire Co, England to Oxford Co, Canada, let me say that Heather's Burton may well be a great-grandnephew of Rita's. To prove this requires that Heather make inquiries in the environs of Wrawby, Lincolnshire, England to see if she can construct her lineage back to and connect with Rita's Frances Burton's father, Martin Burton. If so, shezam. Further, if Heather's Burtons ended up in Dereham Twp of Oxford Co in Ontario, that would add powerfully to the premise that they (we) are related.

Hi Rita

I too am reasearching the Hunsley name. I originally thought all my links were from Lancashire, but I now find that my GG Grandfather, Thomas Hunsley was born in Manton, Lincolnshire in 1839.

He married Maria Binns in 1863 at Manchester Cathedral and together they had at least four children.

Ada bd 13 Oct 1866, Thomas Binns bd 5 Nov 1869, Maria bd 1877 and Charles bd 1883.

I am informed that you have extensive info on Hunsleys from Lincolnshire and you are the person to contact. Can you help me find Thomas Hunsley's parents? Do you have any possible links to my line of Hunsleys? I have found one record of a Thomas Hunsley's christening in Manton in 1839 giving his parents as William and Elizabeth, but do not know if this is my ancestors parents or not.

Look forward to hearing from you.

I too am looking for family connections to Midge. My husband is the great grandson to William Henry Burton and Alice Tilford and I am looking at expanding the family tree. Maybe we can help each other. Ann

I have just recently started research on the clipson name. Any info you could share would be great. I came across a George herbert clipson who was a casualty in WW 1, and based on my families previous 3 generationsp (there were 3 Richards) repeating first names seem to be our thing.
Did George clipson of horncastle have a son by any chance?

Griff Clipson
