I have a direct lineage of Hamer's in south Texas back to my GGGgrandfather. Does anyone have ship info on a F(erdinand or frank) J. Hamer b: 1847? I'm also working on the siblings of the Hamer's in between my grandfather and him. Please drop me a line if you have info.

THANX!

I am looking for any links to my GGGrandmother, Addie Deleon Hamer, b March 31, 1852, died March 08, 1894. She was the first wife of Henry Weidner Baylor, sheriff of Uvalde County, Texas for 21 years. She is buried in Uvalde, Texas. Quite a lovely young woman, I have a picture. Have no idea where she was born, or who her parents were! Any information would be appreciated.

John -

I wish I could help you but the only member of my familiy born near the same time as your GGGgreatdmother is my GGGgrandfather Ferdidand J. Hamer born 1847 and died ?? in Kerr Co. THe only thing I have on him is that he has a German mother and father. I'm not even sure if he was born in Texas or if he sailed over here with his parents. He may have had siblings which could be your GGGgrandmother, I just don't know. Do you have any info on your GGGgrandmother's siblings? My Hamer's were prominant in Kerr and Kimble Co and earlier last century, Bexar Co. I have learned one thing in my research into my Hamer past - there seems to be more Hamer's in Texas that I'm NOT related to than I am. Unfortunantly, that's pretty much all have have. The majority of my info ends with him. I've got better info with his children on down to me. Good luck in your hunt and I wish I could be of more help.

But before I go, I don't know if this helps any, but my GGGgrandfather was also the sherriff of Kerr CO. from 1876 to 1882. Maybe some info can be found through that.

I am from the northern family of Hamer's.
Through my research our branch of the Hamer family is not listed within the net world. Though we reside, for the most part, in Texas and Utah now. I do know that there was a Frank Hamer who was a Texas Ranger around the 1920's. He was the Ranger responsible for bringing the end to Bonnie and Clyde. It sounds as though you are probably related. You might try a search of Texas history.

Since I last posted here, I've got a little more info so here goes.

(1) Ferdinand J. Hamer (b:1847-d:? in Kerrville, Kerr Co. TX), married Johanna Holekamp (b:August 21, 1856 in Comfort, TX-d:January 30, 1938). All I know about Ferdinand is that he had German parents though I don't know if he had siblings or if his parent came over (don't think so). The only way I believe I'm related to Frank Hamer or the North Texas Hamer's is that if Ferdinand had a brother that came over with him or at a later time.

Ferdinand and Johanna had the following children:

(2) Minnie Hamer (b:Abt July 1880-d:?)
(2) Alexis 'Alex' Julius Hamer (b:Abt October 29, 1874 in Kerrville, Kerr Co., TX-d:December 14, 1970 in Junction, Kimble Co., TX), married to Annie C. Braley (b: August 1876 in Wailder or Junction, TX-d:1946 in Junction, TX?)
There is also a C. A. Hamer that was a sibling to these to but I've only seen one reference of it so I'm not sure if I believe it.

Alex and Annie had the following children:

(3) Henry A. Hamer (b: March 1889-d:?)
(3) Ernest A. Hamer (b: abt 1901-d:?)
(3) Clifford Ferdinand Hamer, Sr. (b:February 18, 1898 in Junction, Kimble County, TX-d:May 02, 1952 in Junction, Kimble County, TX), married Margaret Elizabeth Goodwin (b:September 30, 1909 in Dallas, Dallas County, TX and is still living). They were married July 14, 1928.

THey had the following children:

(4) Margaret Ann Hamer (still living)
(4) Clifford Ferdinand Hamer, Jr (b: September 20, 1930 in Junction, Kimble County, TX-d:July 04, 1996 in San Antonio, Bexar County, TX), married Erma Evelyn Burleson (b:October 11, 1932 in Del Rio, Val Verde County, TX-d:July 22, 1982 in San Antonio, Bexar County, TX) on November 25, 1950.

These were my Grandparents. If anyone can send be a bit of info to add to this, I'd GREATLY appreciate it!

I am just starting to trace my hamer family line in Texas. My immediate family of Hamer's live in Oklahoma but I know that our line is from Texas. My father is Robert Vernon Hamer Jr. and his father was Robert V. Hamer Sr. Robert Hamer Sr. had a brother , Francis Asbury(Frank)Hamer IV from Texas who was a Texas Ranger and the one responsible for ambushing Bonnie and Clyde. His father was Francis Asbury Hamer the III and if my sources are right he was married to Fanny Augusta Johnsey. This is as far as I have gotten and would greatly appreciate it if anyone could give me any info as to bothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents etc... anything would be a help. Thanks. Debbie.

Hi there, just a few clarifications about your post concerning the Texas Ranger. His name was, in fact Francis Augustus Hamer...and for the record he wasn't the 4th, because that's me, his great grandson :)
Please feel free to e-mail any questions you might have to me, my grandfather (his son) is still living as is my father (Francis A Hamer III).

Thank you,

Frank Hamer IV

From what I know my grandfather was from the areas of Dayton/Livingston/Liberty TX. That's were we've always had reunions. The Milton Hamer Sr. family moved to south Louisiana in the 1950s to get into the oilfield. wife Beverly, sons Greg and Milton Jr. and daughter Connie. Let me know if you have and connections.
thanks,
