The Friedrich Loppnow & Wilhelmine Gaedke children, listed as baptized in Reedsville, Wisconsin, were actually baptized in Zion Lutheran Church, Wayside WI; because both the Morrison and Wayside congregations were served by pastors from the 2 Reedsville churches, records were also kept in Reedsville's Saint James church and Saint John church. There were 2 incidents of fire--one in the old Morrison church building and the other in one of the Reedsville churches, and many records were burned. The Wayside "Zion" records are available at the church there. The 2 Reedsville congregations merged into the present congregation, keeping both old names in their new name.
Apparently, Carl and DOrothea [Benz] Loppnow remained in or around WISBU in Kreis Regensburg, just a few kilometers from LOPPNOW in Kreis Greifenberg; the old Loppnow Manor is in the dorf of Lopianow, 5 kilometers from Greifenberg; it is now a housing facility--or so it appeared when we were there in 2001.

The daughter of Caroline Loppnow, sister to Friedrich whose wife was Wilhelmine Gaedke, is listed in the Wayside records as "uneheliches Kind." Caroline later married Friedrich Loewe in a Methodist church; those records are in FAITH Methodist in Neenah, Wis.

Mike, you are still around online please let me know as I'm wondering about doing a DNA test with someone in your line to see if we have a common ancestor.
