Trying to find birth, marriage and any other info about JAMES PRATT born about 1710-15 ish. May NOT be from Oxon because I have settlement papers from his son which says his father James was a Shoemaker who 'settled' in Henley-upon-Thames.I cannot find anything else about the poor chap. You are my last hope. I don't even know the name of his wife. I had some info from a kind lady who looked some things up for me (and found on IGI) but the only James PRATT she found in Oxfordshire was a marriage in 1707 to a Mary Phillips in 1707. His son,William was born in 1740 so James would have to have been about about 60 when he had William. and it doesn't seem right to be James' dad either. That is all I have.

Checking the OFHS's Oxfordshire Marriage Index (1538-1837), this was the only marriage that I found for a James PRATT with a Henley connection in the 1700s:

22 OCT 1733 - James PRATT (of Henley) to Mary STAG at Shiplake

Date is not bad either, so may be worth some further investigation?

(Incidentally, could not see any sign on the index of the PRATT/PHILLIPS marriage in 1707.)

Penny
