I am trying to get Geneological information as to Where Richard Smale (Small)was married, he was born in Devonshire England, and married Tamzin Prout. \\They imigrated to Canada sometime before 1837 .I'd appreciate any info. that could help .

My great-grandfather was Jonas Smale he was born in Canada in 1865 in upper Canada , little is known of him , his wife Sarah Rice I remember well, all of his children I have Info on. I understand he came SHEEPWASH parish, in the County of Devon

Could your relative have come from St.Giles in the Wood,Devon,England. I have a Sarah Smale daughter of John Smale and Ann , born 14 Jan 1810,St.Giles married Richard Thorne.I don't know anything more on the Smales

I am researching Edward Smale, b.1812 Devonshire Eng. His brother Richard lived in Victoria and died (unmarried) in 1863.

In reply to Freda Thorne, Devon is quite the possiblity as my knowledge thus far is that my Greatgrandfather left Plymouth and set sail for Canada. I don't know if he was a passenger or sailor but I would presume sailor as he disembarked on the shores of Lake Huron, Ontario, Canada. He then made it up to Sault Ste Mariee where he married (?)
and my Grandfather John Smale married Mary. He then begat Herbert, Floyd, Jack, Malcolm, Emma, Verna, Dorothy, Ruth.

This could be helpful as my Greatgrandfather left Plymouth witch is in Devon but I don't know his first name. I received that a John & Ann had a daughter Sarah Jan. 14,1810, @St. Giles in the Wood, Devon. My people settled in Sault Ste Mariee, Ontario, Canada. If I could get more info on the children it might help.
