I am researching my fathers family. I have traced them to the early 1800's. Some of the names are Ann Priddle b. 1784, Esau b.1829 and Jacob m. 1861.
They lived in Carbonear Conception Bay Newfoundland

I'm also looking for information on the Priddle family from Carbonear. My grandmother was Deliah Priddle b. 1898 in Carbonear. She had several sisters and one brother George. My great-grandmother was Isabelle (Horwood) Priddle. Not sure of my great-grand-father's name, think it may have been George or Edward. He died around 1910. My great-great-grandmother was Deliah Horwood. Don't know anything about my great-great-grandfather. Any connection?

Dear Judy,

I'm not sure where your family connects to the main Australian Priddle lines, but you may find my Priddle website at www.bedfordpark.net/genealogy/priddle of interest, as it contains details of many other researchers of the Australian lines. If you can send me a little more information on your Priddle line I may be able to figure out where you fit in.

Best wishes,

Ian Hall

Hi Ian,

I doubt that we do connect - at least in the past 200 years or so. My family of Priddle arrived in Newfoundland sometime between 1800 and 1810. I have managed to trace them back to an Edward Priddle who was a witness at St. Paul's Church in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland in 1810. I have no wife's name for him although I have searched our Provincial Archives looking for her. There are so few Priddles here in Newfoundland I think they are all related, however I have no proof of this. The names are very similar to the ones on your site - Jacob(my gggrandfather), George (my ggrandfather) - George in particular was very common here in Newfoundland.

I'm not even sure where we originate from in the UKK. - Sommerset, Dorset maybe Wales - all I know is that my family immigrated to Newfoundland and became fisherman - what they were in the UKK. I have no idea. Thanks for replying. I had checked out your website just a couple of weeks ago - very informative and interesting - but as I said earlier when you don't know where in the UKK. your family originated it's kind of hard to make a connection back that far.

Thanks Judy Parab
