thanks for your reply. elijah smith was my great great great grandfather and seems to be a dead end since i can find only one ref to him and that he was born in northants but lived in west bridgford nottingham.

would like to know anything about his parents etc but smith is a needle in a giant haystack??

Birth place seems to be Floore, also spelt at various times Flore and Flower (between Northampton and Daventry)

Doesn't his marriage certificate have the name of his father?

I found the marriage on the IGI - unfortunately in 1833, so no certificate.

Had also come to the same conclusion about Flore (but you got in first!).

I have access to Flore PRs at my local library, so would be happy to go and have a hunt around for Elijah, if required!

Unexpectedly found myself with a spare half hour in town this afternoon, so made a visit to the library.

I checked the Flore baptisms 1808-1812 (inc.) but no sign of Elijah.
