I know that there is a settlement of them in SASKATCHEWAN. I think that is where my father Barry Donaldson Baglole was born, however that is all the info I have on him. Can anyone help?

Duane, I am your cousin Lori. My mother is your father's sister. He comes frome a family of 5 boys and 2 girls. They were raised on a farm near a little town called Carnduff. His grandfather homesteaded this farm in 1905. I do not know where your father is as we have not heard from him in over 20 years. If you want more information you can write to me and I shall answer what I can.

I would like to see that family tree if I could.

FYI: I know that Harry Baglole, from the Institute of Island Studies at the University of Prince Edward Island, completed a brief family history a few years ago. Perhaps he has updated it.

I have also heard that the name originated from the name Bagelhole. Can anyone provide more information on that?

Thanks - April

I found that the surname does derive from "Bagelhole" in the 1300's in England. I believe that info came from Harry. My father Ernest was born on PEI in 1923. Grandfather was Reginald Baglole. He had a brother Major Baglole who changed the spelling when he came to the US to Baglow.

My grandmother is Mary Baglole. She was married to Robert Douglas Baglole of Carnduff Saskatchewan, she tells me that Robert had a brother named Barry. Their mother was a native lady, Meta Cowie. My mother's maiden name is Irene Baglole. We live in NB, Canada.

Please get in touch with me. I am researching the Cowie family. Your grandfather, Robert Douglas Baglole was my husband's first cousin. His mother was Meada Cowie, sister of my father-in-law Allen Cowie. Meada's parents were Andrew and Annie (Gallagher)Cowie. I have quite a lot of info on Meada's family and would like to update with your family. Hope to hear from you.
