Newest information on the DiSomma research. I just found the John DiSomma family in the 1920 census. Wife Evelyn, born approx 1900. Children as follows:
Salvatore and John Jr (apparently twins) born 1916; Margaret born 1917, Emm born 1918, Jamie (son) born 1920) William born 1924, Robert born 1926, Evelyn born 1926, The remaining children would be possibly: George, born after 1930, Frank born after 1930, Allen born after 1930 and Ann born after 1930.

These are the children of the youngest brother of Maria Magdelana DiSomma as I know them now. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

This was the 1930 census. Not the 1920.

Your father was the first cousin of my father-in-law William DiSomma. Your Grandfather was John or Gaetove DiSomma who came from Italy in 1898 with his sister Maria Magdellena DiSomma (William's mother) and the rest of their family. He was maybe 2 years old. I'd love to get in touch with you! please email me directly and I can give you my address and other information.

So much more information I can share with you regarding your father's father's family.

To those who might notice that Dawn DiSomma seems to be speaking to herself (Dawn DiSomma), the explaination is that the first Dawn DiSomma (me) married into the DiSomma family and the second Dawn DiSomma (who answered my post) was born as Dawn DiSomma (lucky girl!)

We have a match!

I realize that it has been awhile since your message has been posted. I would like to know if you are still doing this research and what information you have since. My grandfather is Robert DiSomma, one of the children you mention in this post. I will get with him & get any info that you still need. I know that he still keeps in touch with his sister Evelyn. If you would like any info please get back with me.

I am still doing this research. It's on-going as I married into the DiSomma family. There's another Dawn DiSomma who was born into the family also related through John DiSomma...What I would like to know is the Italian verison of "John" that John used. It appears on the documents at Ellis Island but I can't really tell from the handwriting what it is. Gaetove was the closest that I could make out. Giovanni? Giatano? Also, the family cousins said that Gramma Nona lived upstairs from Uncle John's shop in Brooklyn (?) and I'd like to know if that was John's mother (Margarite) or his mother-in-law. Also, if you could verify that John and the older boys kept pigeons on the roof of that building...Some of this is a little strange but I'm trying to pin down some family oral history that I've been told from a great neice of John's. In the 1930 census I found Margarite living in New Jersey with two of her grandsons (Salvatore and Salvatore) both named after her late husband, John's father, Salvatore DiSomma. Would your father know about his grandfather's brothers and sisters? Frank and Antoinette? Both names from the Ellis records..Thanks so much..Dawn
