I am seeking proof that the two James Girdlers are father and son. James, Jr is my DAR patriot and I would like to find proof back to the 1700's for Colonial Dames membership. I have evidence for all other generations.

I am researching my geneology and my grandfather's name was Noah Girdley. His great-great grandfather was James Girdley (died in 1823) and James' father was James, also (born in 1751). Is this any relationship to your Girdler/Girdley?

James Girdler, Jr. was a Revolutionary War patriot serving in the Drum and Fife Corp. I am sure that his father, James Sr. came down from the Mass., Penn area to settle in the central Ky. area. I have the lineage back to Frances Girdler in Marblehead. Massachusetts prior to 1700 as a landowner, freedman and founding member of the church at Salem. I do not have the pictorial proofs necessary for Colonial Dames, but am a member of DAR fron the James, Jr. line. Yes, the Girdley name is present in the lineage. One decendent of James changed the spelling and has a long line of descendents. Would enjoy sharing.

Donna:
I'm descended from the Girdley family of Ind. and Ky. Was your Noah the son of Ottie (or Ottaway) girdley?
Would be pleased to hear from you

The James Girdler from Pulaski, according to documentation provided by his son and grandson, declared James to be an immigrant from England. That James Girdler was born in 1751 and was a revolutionary war soldier from the 8th PA Regiment of the Continental Line.

I've found no documentation nor circumstantial evidence that connects the KY Girdler/Miles family to the Girdler's in Massachusetts (Girdler/Leach family).
