He married Anna Eliza (maiden name unknown). Both were from Virginia. There have been a number of Swanns in Baltimore, MD, but I haven't been able to tie my wife's family to them yet. One was the Mayor of Baltimore.

My Georger Francis Swann b. 1845 in, we think, in Caroline Co., VA. He married Anna Eliza Llewellyn.... probably around 1870 or 71. He died 1/9/1887 in Baltimore. They had 5 daughters and one son: Mary Estell b. 12/18/1872,Hellen Floyd b. 2/1/1875, Daysie Campbell b. 6/3/1877, Mabel Adelaid b. 11/3/1879, George Francis b. 4/28/1882(a girl, because he thought he never would have a son), and finally Samuel Amory b 3/25/1885.

Mabel Adelaid Dickey and we think her mother Anna Eliza Swann are burried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery on old rt 40 on the west edge of Baltimore. George may be burried there too, but I haven't been able to get up there on a week day to check the old records.

Looking for relatives of my husband's grandmother. Her name was Dorothy Swann. She was born around 1914 maybe? She married James Richard Gentry. They lived in Baltimore Md. Dorothy had a sister named Erma, and possibly Violet, Lula and a brother named John. If you have any info on this branch of Swann's please contact me at larriann@shore.intercom.net

There were at least two lines of Swanns in the Baltimore area. One involved a Baltimore Mayor Swann. I have not been able to connect to that line.

My only Dorthy or Dorthea Swann was much older than the one you are seeking, but perhaps there could be a slim chance of a connection.

Dorthy or Dorthea (depending on census spelling) Campbell was born in Virginia before the Civil war. She had two sons Edward M. Swann, b.1843 and George Francis Swann. b.1845. Both fought in the Civil War and both ended their days in the Baltimore area. Edward died in a soldiers home in Baltimore. I don't know if he had a family and I can't yet find any records of such a soldiers home.

My wife's line is through George Francis Swann who married Anna Eliza Lewellyn of Richmond, VA. They had five daughters born from 1872 to 1885 and only one son Samual Amory Swann, b.3/25/1885. He had only one daughter that I know of: Elizabeth Shipley Swann, b. 9/11/1921 who married a Mr. Eugene Morgan Lilley(now deceased). Elizabeth is still living with her daughter somewhere in Severna Park, MD.

I've talked to her about the Swanns several times. She remembers visiting Edward at the Baltimore Soldiers Home, but she didn't seem to know much about him or the other Swann line.

Hope that you find something to help.

Hi to Larri Ann Gentry. Yes, you are correct, and Dorothy, John, Erma, Lulu, also William was an older brother in the family. There were 11 Children in the Swann Family altogether in the Baltimore City area. Your husband would be a relative to my family, in fact we are first cousins. Are any of the 11 Brothers and Sisters still alive in Baltimore area? You may respond to me at Beths2005@gmail.com for more information.
