My father is William Kelly Cowell, father was James Richard Cowell and mother Doris Craig Cowell. William was born and raised in MO, around the Springfield area. He has tried to find more information about his roots but seems to be the last of the Cowells from that area. Are we related to any of the Cowells on this site?

I am a descendant of John J Cowell Jr / John J Cowell Sr. John Jr's wife Mary Brotham Stith's daughter, Ella Naomi Cowell Leatherman was my great grandmother.
John Sr was indeed a son of Andrew & Mary Stine Cowell. See Findagrave.com memorial id#: Find A Grave Memorial# 77640332 for the mention of Andrew Cowell's children's name. John doesn't show up in the long list of names and their spouses, but if you read through the paragraphs prior you will see John listed , "John and Andrew emigrate to OH to Cuyahoga Co. and Monroe Co, OH respectively." You will see the reference where this information came from on this memorial also.
You will also see the same references at rootsweb at: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/COWELL/2012-02...

I just recently found the ancestors of John J Cowell Sr. while researching Warren's of Conway, MA who married into the "Fiske" family (we spell it Fisk). While reading through the marriage, death, and birth records, I came across Lydia Fiske. I have known about her for some years now, but could not find how she fit into my Fisk lines, until I found the Warren's (a fellow asked me about my connection with the Warren's and was asking for proof. That is when I discovered that I had the proof all along!) Anyway, through Lydia Fiske, Phineas Fiske married a Mary Cowell. I was trying to see if I could find the connection with my "Missouri-Iowa Cowell's) when John Cowell Sr's tree opened up and led me to these message boards.
Would anyone happen to know of a Mary Cowell (1700-1797) who married Phineas from Conway, MA? Mehitable Wheaton will have a connection, but don't let the Joel Bacon name throw you. (Joel is my 6th great grandfather whose great grandson married into the very same Fiske/Fisk families I have mentioned here, ca.1869)
