I am trying to trace my great-grandfather, Albert Edward Barber, who was born in Little Stukeley in about 1872. His father was John Barber, who was a butcher and his mother was Sarah Barber. Albert Edward married Florence Jane Barber in 1899, and they had a son Herbert A E Barber in 1900. My grandfather, Henry Ronald Barber was born in 1913. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as they are proving to be an elusive bunch.

My name is Kevin Norman Barber i am the son of Alfred Norman Barber who was the son of Albert Edward & Florence Jane Brown. Henry Ronald was my uncle, we used to visit him when we lived in Basildon in the 1960s. Am sure we are talking about the same person. would love to hear from you, as i am trying to do my family tree at the moment.

Hallo Kevin, This is wonderful news! Was beginning to think that there were limited Barbers out there. Henry Ronald was my grandfather. He had five children, Shirley, Diane and David (twins), Raymond and Robert (twins). His wife was Vivienne. My father was Robert. Henry died before I was born so was not able to find out much from him. How far have you gone back? I know that Henry had an older brother called Herbert Albert Edward. Albert Edward Barber (Henry Ronald's and Herbert and Alfred' dad) fought in the first world war and he died in 1921 or 1923. Would love to hear if you have much on Florence. I know she lived in Herne Bay and her family name was Brown. Her family were in the building trade I believe.
