My ggrandfather John Benjamin Nestor had a brother Michael. John Benjamin lived in Kellysburg, PA (about 20 miles north of Williamsport), but all we know about Michael was that he died in the Vet's home in Oxford, NY (north of Williamsport near Corning, NY). Apparently he was a vet of the Spanish-American war. They also had a brother Peter and a sister Julia. We know they were born in Ireland but we're not sure where (my father recall hearing Cork mentioned a lot).

Just wandered back onto these boards after hiatus. Have a picture of Michael Nestor, and judging by the dates of immigration and births, he could have been in Civil War. There is a John Nestor on the PA monument at Gettysburg under 69th PA Inf. Don't know where his grave is but was told there are Nestors buried in the Irish catholic cemetary in near WIlliamsport. He did have a brother John. This branch moved to near Harrisburg round 1900. MY ggg grandfather had brothers John , Thomas lived in Washington DC, Michael[who died young in NYC} and several sisters. Would be interested in any info thanx.

My gggrandfather, Michael Nestor, along with his wife Bridget, came from Kings County Ireland to Philadelphia PA in 1860. They moved to near Williamsport PA where my ggrandfather work for the Pennslyvania Railroad and later founded a Tool and Die company, still run by the Nestor family, called Reiff and Nestor Company in 1912. He married Sara Curts of Antes Fort. One of Michael's, or possibly Joseph Patricks, siblings married a Phillips. One of Joseph Patricks brothers moved to West Virgina, another to NY/NJ area, and another to Washington DC. We have lost track of all branches of family except for the ones still in Central PA. I do have old pictures of Phillips's and Nestors sadly they do not have names or dates except for a few. Let me know any info you come across. Thanks

Thanks so much for replying. Several researchers came to my aid to let me know the earliest Nestor was Jacob, already in this country in the late 1700s and that John Phillips was a descendent of Elijah born in VA in 1822. Many Nestor and Phillips members did marry. Thanks again. Lucie

Most of the Nestors in Kings County(Offaly) are from the Lemanaghan and Kilmanagan Parishes near the Westmeath and Roscommon border. There is a Matthew, Patrick and Sylvester Neaster listed in the Griffths Valuation which took place in the 1850's. Those gentlemen are most likely your ancestors.

Is he a sibling to Michael. My Nestors have a Jersey City and Newark, Nj connection.
