My Grandmother was also Mary Elizabeth Wiggs. However, she was born in 1876 in Missouri and married Thomas Eli Foshee. Maybe there is some relation?

Mary Elizabeth Wiggs was my great grandmother's older sister. I have several pages of information on the Wiggs family in the 1800's. Do you know if the Wiggs were Quakers when they came to Minnesota from Indiana?

My ggggrandfather was Henry Wiggs who was born in North Carolina in 1802 or 1803. Sometime before 1827, he married Anna, who was born in North Carolina in 1801. Henry and Anna were living in or near Goldsboro, Wayne County, NC, in 1830. They had two children, including my gggrandfather, William Thomas (Tom) Wiggs, who was born in Goldsboro in 1829. In 1831, the family moved to Sandcreek Township, Bartholmew County, Indiana. Henry and Anna had two more children and were living in Sandcreek Township in 1840. By 1850, the family had moved to Columbus Township in Bartholmew County. The family was living in Columbus Township in 1860 and 1870. Anna died sometime before 1875; Henry had moved to Hollywood Township, Carver County, Minnesota, by 1875. In 1880, Henry had remarried and was living in McLeod County, Minnesota.

We would very much like to know about Henry's father and grandfather. We were hopeful that Henry's grandfather was John Wiggs, who served in the North Carolina infantry and calvary during the Revolutionary War. On the other hand, Henry may have been a Quaker because Sandcreek Township was settled for the most part by Quakers from North Carolina who moved to Indiana because they opposed slavery. If you have any ideas, please pass them on. I will mail you what information I have on the Wiggs family in Indiana and Minnesota.

I'm sorry but it looks like we are investigating different Mary Elizabeth Wiggs persons. Mine was my Grandmother and was married to Thomas Eli Foshee in Missouri. Perhaps in some way they are cousins. If you find more info on the background of yours please let me know.

I am trying to find info on my great-great grandfather, John Henry Wiggs. He was born in North Carolina in 1844. I do not know who his parents were or any siblings. He was in Texas in 1888 when he married Mary Frances Burch Flannagan in 1888. They had three daughters (Alice, Ida and Ada). They later moved to Oklahoma where he died in 1917. Can you hlep me determine who the parents might have been for my John Henry Wiggs? Any help would be appreciated.
