I have an extensive Partington Family History on Partington's from Stockport, England, who migrated to Sullivan County in New York State, then on to Ulster and Dutchess Counties. Some went to New Jersey. We are missing several Partington's, of course, one being a Silas, who was born in 1823 in England. Some of the names of the Partington's in our family are James, b-1793, Gera, Silas, William. Would love to hear from anyone who thinks they may be related.

Joan... did any of your partington's make it to indiana or ohio (specially shelby co, ohio?) my great-grandfather was W.E. Partington, who was in ohio house of representatives in 1900 and 1902... there are other partington's in green co, ohio... one a well known lawyer in 1800's... his family owned a woolen mill and were said to be descendants of the stuart family of england... i haven't found a connection to the green co families....

Silas Gilbert Partington, your grandfather, was born 3/1/1915 in Newburgh, N.Y., died 6/28/1988, buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, N.Y. Your great-grandfather, Silas Gilbert Partington, was born 11/24/1882 in Newburgh, died 12/1/1951, buried in St. George's Cemetery, Newburgh. Silas Sr. was married to Edna Mae Terry on 11/28/1914. Silas Jr. was md. to Jewell ?. They had Thomas, James Gilbert, Silas Gilbert III, and Donald. I have about 9 pages of information about your whole family, but certainly can't put it all here. You can contact me at 914-236-7221 if you like. Some of your family already has the family history my husband and I have put together. Our history goes back to James Partington, b-1793. You are related to the Marlboro, N.Y. Partington's. Would love to talk with you. Call us.

Elizabeth Millspaugh's son was Thomas Leonard Partington (guess he took his step-father's name). Matilda is still living and has been helping me put together the Newburgh Partington's. We are from the Marlboro Partington's, and the two are related. I have information back to 1793, James Partington. We also have copies of the 2 Partington's who were killed in the Civil War (copies of their pensions, that is). As you can see, we have a fairly complete family history that is about 9 typewritten pages, with dates, places, and photos. If you would like to talk with us, call 914-236-7221. Or I could mail you a copy of what we have put together so far. We're still working on it, of course.
