Hallo Prof. Dr. Antonius Holtmann,
Once again you have come threw for me, I received your letter today. I am sending payment out tomorrow please let me know when he receives it. Since 1978 I have been trying to find this information out. You are a blessing! I have another question for you. Franz Weis who married Francisca Weishaar her father is Ignatz Weishaar he came from Schoenenburg in 1844 to the USA. How can I find out the church the Weishaar Family went to, they are also Catholic? I am trying to get more information dating back as far as I can get. Can you get more information of these people?
This is what information I have on the Weishaar Family.

The town they are from is Schoenenburg Bas-Rine Germany - France, Alsace - Lorraine.
Is it Germany or France? I have told it has been both. I also been told there is a lot of Weishaar's there still today.

Here is his answer

We found the 16 Weishaar, including Ignatz, arriving June 14, 1844. Do you have a photocopy of the passenger list?

Schoenenbourg is in France. It was German between 1871 and 1918. Elsace-Lorraine was German up to 1648/1681. The people there mostly spoke a German dialect. French became the official language.
I shall send you an address to contact the parish.
Best wishes,
A. Holtmann

Would be interested in knowing more about your pre-1700 info on the Weishaars. I've managed to claw my way back to 1690, but can't locate anything beyond that.

1650!?!?! This sounds quite intriguing.

Thanks!

Dana,
Try researching Prussia in that time from in the 1600's, the
Weishaars originated in Prussia. The nationality was Jew
German but was changed during WWII to escape the Nazis.
If you want any more info I will try and help!
Thanks

Hello,

I just discovered this website, so maybe am I a bit late...
Just wanted to say that my grand mother's name was Weishaar and she was born in Schoenenburg during the time this region was still part of the German empire. There are many members of this family living in this village and most of the unhabitants are related.
If you need any information about them, maybe I can help.
My father who grew there is still living nearby.

Best regards

Pierre-Louis
