Anyone have info on my great,great, grandfather, married to Mary Katherine Steely. Really need info on Mary Katherine. She was 3/4 Cherokee Indian. Trying to find her tribe,parents, etc. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I have a John Q.A. speer in my childrens' line. He was born 27 May 1842 in Cumberland Co, Ky to Abraham C. Speer and Elizabeth Holt. He married 1#-ca1867-Harrison,Boone,Ar to Lavenia K. Watkins(d/o Abraham Watkins and Mary Emiline Staples(cherokee indian). John died 19 Apr 1937 at and buried at Miami,Ottawa,Ok. Lavenia died 3 Sept 1887 in Harrison,Boone,Ar. They had 9 children: Forest-1869-1869,Lewis Leonadus 1870-1940,Flaura Elizabeth 1871/72-1964,Joseph Edward 1874-1934,Osborne Watkins 1878-1953(my childrens' gt. grandfather),John Losson 1880-1947,Albert A. 1882-1967,George Devers 1885-1950, infant female-1887-1887.
John Q.A. Speer was a Civil War Vet.

I have a John Quincy Adams Speer in my daughters line. I have seen both men by this name in my searching and was bvery confused for a little while. Can you believe there were two men with this name around the same time!!!

Were you able to get information about John Quincy Adams Speer (1816-1896) & Mary Katherine Steely married JQAS in 1854? They are also my husbands great great grandparents. I have not been able to find their parents. We also heard about being part American Indian but have not found proof. Even when Paul's niece was born the doctor commented "you have a little papoose".
