Thomas Carman and Sarah Brinckerhoff

Classification: Query
Surnames: Carman. Brinckerhoff
While doing research I found out that something is very wrong with the Ancestry trees on Thomas and Sarah. She was born in 1738 and married Thomas Carman on 21 Nov. 1758. She is the daughter of Isaac and his cousin/wife Diana. Every tree has Thomas listed as dying on his Wedding date. He would have been in his 80's. My husband's family comes through Mahala Carman (b 1807) wife of Adam Fitzgerald.Athens PA. As I went back through the line, nothing fits in with the dates with Thomas and Sarah. Every family tree lists the same errors.Does anyone have the right information? By dates, Mahala should be their granddaughter not a ggg one and By the dates, Their grandson Adam was born before Sarah and Thomas.Either the dates are all wrong or the lineage isn't right. HELP!

I have pictures of Mahala and her husband Adam. I am descended from her brother Israel. Mahala was the daughter of Adam Carman and Hannah Dean, granddaughter of Jacob Carman and Rachel Weeks and great-granddaughter of Adam Carman and Philadelphia Titus. Beyond that things get somewhat sketchy. I have my own assumptions but I cannot say they are proven.

Please contact me. I have both of these lineages and will attempt to help you. I see that Ray Justus has responded to your post. He has been researching for over thirty years, started about the same that I started, and he is correct as far back as he goes (I am not certain how far back his records extend).

It is not your lineage, but Thomas Carman died 31 October 1833 in Bethpage, New York. He and Sarah had one daughter that I can prove: Diana Carman who married Dr. Isaac Ball on 2 Feb 1787. There may have been more children???
