My ggrandfather was William Sedgewick Cowper b. abt 1800. He was md to Jane Esther Shipley. They lived in Bishopwearmouth, Sunderland. I have no parents for him, but suspect he may be the son of Mathew Cowper and Hannah Sedgewick. Their son, Matthew Cowper is my gfather. He was orphaned at an early age and I know very little about him. I would like to know if anyone has any links to William Sedgewick Cowper or any info. on his other children (John Sedgewick b.1831, William George b.1832, Jane b.1835, Matthew b.1836 and Hannah b. 1839.)

I have just read a book (one of only three in existence I have been told) written by an Agnes Cowper. Her father was a 'Matt' Cowper who was orphaned aged 8. I believe he may have come from the Surrey area but he eventually settled in Liverpool. He was lost at sea in 1895.

Will provide you with more information regarding his children if you think it will help. JFL.
