vickie,
My wife's family are the Beehlers from around St. Cloud, Mn. Her fathers name was Christ J. Beehler. He had a Brother named Louie Beehler and several other Brothers and Sisters. I will as my wife for more information, but, am trying to suprise her with my research on her family. What was you Grandmothers name. The Louis Beehler you write about had a wife with a last name similar to the one you list.

Louis Beehler & Elsie Neubarth's oldest daughter was my Grandmother Lily. Louis was the son of John Beehler and Mathilda Bauer, John was the son of Matthaeus Beuhler and Ursula Steck. Our "cousins" have collected information on the Steck's back to the 1600's. We are working on the Neubarth side. Please let me know what you have found so we can share information.

My Steck ancestors arrived in Lancaster, Ohio in the 1820's. F. A. Steck was married to a beuchler and they were from Alsace, France. The Beuchler name is spelled so many different ways that my Louis Beuchler could be your Louis Beehler.

Actually there is a Steck/Bühler (later spelled Beehler) connection in our tree although it does not appear to be a match with yours. Matthäus Bühler b. 1822 married Ursula Steck b. 1828 in Sontheim-an-der-Brenz, Württemberg, GER,and they arrived in MN in 1864 with some of Ursula's family. They are the parents of John Beehler b. 1858 who married Mathilda Bauer, parents of Louis. Stecks have been living in Sontheim-an-der-Brenz since the 1600's.

I think that my g-g-grandmother, Anna Marie, was a member of the same Steck family, though she married in the US and ended up living in IL and IA. I believe the family emigrated in 1854. You suggest they arrived in MN in 1864. Do you have any idea where they were before they came to MN? Thanks.

The date of arrival should read 1854. Matthias Bühler, his wife Ursula and 2 children (Christian and Anna) along with several members of Ursula's family left Bremmen on the Emigrant arriving in New York on 04 Oct 1854. The destination is listed as Ohio. By 1860 the Bühlers were living in Chaska, Carver County, Minnesota.
