Okay...we are trying to trace my grandfathers family. His name was Carl Sasseen, he was born in Benton Kentucky 8-30-1917 to Clitus Sasseen and Mary McKinley Ivey(?).
Clitus came to Michigan to look for work and after he'd been gone for awhile Mary left to find him.

My grandpa and his siblings were taken fron her after a time and put up for adoption....

Not sure about anything else at this time...any help would be appreciated...

My husband is Arnold Rudy Sasseen. He was born in Wayne County, Detroit, Michigan on June 11, 1933. His Father was Rudy Washington Sasseen & his mother was Josephine Temperance Hill. Rudy was born in Benton, KY in 1894 and Josephine Hill was born in Advance, KY in 1899. Rudy Sasseen left Kentucky and went to Michigan to get work. He left Michigan a few years later and went south to Atlanta. He worked for Frederick Sterns in Detroit and for the Atlanta Paper Company (later bought out by Mead Paper) in Atlanta. Rudy had 6 brothers and 2 sisters. One of the brothers was named Ray and another Clitus. You had mentioned Clitus. Clitus married Mary McKintey (Ivey?) and they had a son, Carl Sasseen. Clitus also came to Michigan, seeking work. Mary joined him later. Carl Sasseen and his siblings were taken from Mary and put up for adoption. My husband and I would appreciate your reply... Beverley Sasseen....

I have a bit of new information. I was able to find a divorce record for Cleatus
Sasseen and Mary (Ivey) Sasseen. They were married Dec. 21st 1912 in Metropolis, IL and were divorced May 11th 1927 in Macomb Co. Michigan. The divorce was petitioned by Mary and the reasons were cruelty and non-support. They had 5 children at this time: Curtis age 11yrs, Carl age 9 yrs, Clinton age 6 yrs, Clarence age 4 yrs, and Clayton age 2 yrs. I was also able to find a death date for Cleatus. I haven't been able to find a hard copy of this information, but I found this on another tree: Sept 12th 1939 in Marshall Co., KY. I also found a death record for Clarence Sasseen. He was supposed to have been hit by a car and killed on his way to school. This record states he died on Nov. 13th 1929 in Hampton Bay, Michigan. I hope this helps and if you have any new information please post. Thank you.
