Hello,
I am researching the Wiggett family of Birmingham,Wor, England .
I start with Joseph Wiggett b?, a gardener of Edgbaston, who married Jane ? who., abt 1810. They had 6 children,Joseph b 1810, William b 1813, Sarah b 1815, Eleanor b 1817, Martha b 1820 and Eliza b 1826.

I am afraid I have no other information. Does anyone have any connection to this family, I would love to hear from you

Many thanks,
Debe

May not be connected? but my Great Grand Father was a Albert Wigget, son of a 'Black Smith' married Mary Ann Hart daughter of a 'Merchant's Clerk' 1868 [December] both were 19 years they moved to Seffield in the 1880's for a better paid 'Job' as 'Chief Engineer' for a light Engineering firm, a daugther of same [Fanny Hart] my Grand mother.
Anything connect??? [Wiggets known to be a well known birmingham family of the day]
Best regards.
Mick G.

Hi Mick,
As yet none of the names you have mentioned appear in what little information I have of the Wigget's I am researching. Thanks any way, I will keep it on file in case they do!

Thanks for reply Debe, sorry I could not be of more help? I have never really followed my Grand Mother's [Wigget] side, only know from stories and letters. I have done my fathers side.
I do not think you will have much trouble finding what you want yo know? as Birmingham should have a good local register etc.
Best luck.
Mick.

Surnames: Wiggett Schofield
Hi Debe & Mick
I have a Joseph Wigget born in West Indies in 1804 but must have come from your area as he married a Charlotte??? born Alvechurch in 1804.
They both moved to Hathersage in Derbys with the Needle factory that also moved from there, and had a large family, marrying 3 daughters into my Schofield family. Lots more details available if you want, hope we can find a link.

Hi Steve,
I am not to sure your Joseph Wigge(i)t and mine are one of the same.
My Joseph was born April 1810, and baptised in St Mary's Mosely. He was the son of a Joseph and Jane(unknown surname).Joseph snr was a gardener who was born ? when in Edgbaston.
Who were the parents of your Joseph? Would be interested to see if we are discussing the same family or another family.

Hi Debe
It seems certain that we are talking about 2 different Josephs as mine is listed in the 1881 cencus as born 1804 in the West Indies. I have no other details for mine, a marriage would be useful as it may show his parents, his wife was probably Charlotte Lewis born 1804, Alvechurch to John & Sarah.
Perhaps our Josephs are cousins as 2 brothers would often name their first son after their father.
Do you have a more exact location for you family?
Will look for more details
Steve

Hi Steve,
Yes I agree with your thought that the 2 could possibly be cousins. One location I have for my Joseph is Mosely Village. Another address I have is from the Parish Register of St Mary's Church, Mosely, when one of his children was baptised in 1820 and he was recorded as living at Dog Pool Lane, presumably in Mosley. On the occasion of another of his children's baptisms in 1826, he was living in Edgabston Lane. I don't know where he was living from his birth to his subesquent marriage.
