Do you have any information on Elizabeth Gormley? I'm trying to trace Gormleys in Cambridge and Somerville Ma areas.
Thank you!

We know little - only that Katherine Gormley was my husband's great-grandmother. From Strabane, County Tyrone. The Armagh posting above was from early in our ancestry search, and we thought our McGuirks were from Armagh.

The Cambridge connection is certainly a possibility, as our McGuirks went to Cambridge, Mass., where my husband's mother was born. So it's entirely possible that the Gormleys may have followed - or even preceded - them to that area.

Please keep in touch with anything you find. Here's my email address:

The Gormleys were not a big sept in Ireland but I have one in my family tree, Rosanna Gormley who came to New Brunswick from the Parish of Clones, Co. Monaghan, in 1829, leaving behind her family and several relatives. In an 1837 letter to her, it was mentioned that her uncles, John and James Gormley had recently emigrated to the U.S.. Hope this helps. rah
