I have a great, great, great grandfather born in PA in 1790 and died in 1850 who married a Sarah born in 1797 died in 1880. I beleive they lived in Anderson CO, TN.
If this is who you are looking for that is great. Did not know the maiden name of Sarah.
I'm interested where they may be buried.
Hi! I saw your post with the children on Danel Beets listed. The Kirk family that married into this Beets line is my line. I am descended from Eliza Jane Kirk, sister of the 2 Kirks who married Beetses.
Do you have any info that lists Eliza Jane Kirk as a sister of the other 2 Kirks? She would have been the oldest in the family--born in 1826--a year before Margaret. Their parents were John Kirk and Mary Hartley Kirk. We have more Kirk info.
Mona, I'm sorry to say that all I have is the little bit of data on Margaret Ann Kirk. In fact, I'm not sure that I have correct birth year and death year for her. Nothing on siblings, but thanks for her parents names.
Re: Daniel Beets.../Kirk/Hartley/Messemer
Here is a bit more background info for you:
William HARTLEY m. "Jenny" Mismer Nov. 25, 1807. Their marriage bond is at the Greene Co., TN, Courthouse, signed by John and Hezekiah Balch. The Mismer name is spelled 13 different ways in this same family in Greene Co. When "Jenny" died, her son Daniel wrote her name as "Mathena Jane Messamore" in the family Bible. She went to Welga/Wolga/Walga, IL, and died there at her son Daniel's home on June 12, 1861, and is buried at "Hard Scrabble" Cemetery.
The children of William and Jenny Hartley are (in no order):
Benjamin Jasper, Polly(Mary), James M., Melinda, Betty, Daniel Ray, Hamilton, Peggy, and a daughter.
My line is: Polly(Mary) Hartley m. John KIRK Sept. 7, 1825. (John Kirk was b. Dec. 5, 1805 and d. Apr. 5, 1864). Children of John and Mary (Polly) KIRK (all b. Greene Co., TN) are:
Eliza Jane b. Aug. 26 (or 21), 1826, d. Jan. 9, 1904, m. John LewisNov. 11, 1847 in Knox Co.
Margaret b. Aug, 26, 1827, d. Nov. 7, 1884, m. Joseph Beets in Knox Co., TN on 11/29/1849
Joseph A. b. 11/13/1828, d. 2/15/1894, m. Susan Harmon in Washington Co., IL 12/20/1859
Mary E. m. 2/24/1855 to William Lewis in Knox Co., TN
William R. b. 3/1/1830, d. 2/24/1899, married 1st Rebecca Beets; m. 2nd 11/9/1894 Betty Gentry

James R. b. 3/29/1855?, m. 9/17/1857 to Nancy? E. Simpson in Knox Co.

Levina b. 1/10/1846( or 1847), d. 9/23/1934, m. Jesse Lewis 2/1/1866 and had 7 children
I have more info on these people (including Mary (Polly)'s siblings, but would rather xerox it and mail it than retype and risk mistakes. Most of the above is from the Mismer Estate papers copied by Ferol Frost Hubbs. Let me know if you want it.
I've never located the cemetery but it's probaly safe to state he's buried in Anderson County, Tn based on the following facts: Estate of Daniel Beets Anderson County, Tenn Will Book 1847-52 Page 110. George Beets Administrator of the Estate of Daniel Beets. Inventory and amount of sales of estate - September 25 1849. Bay Mare, Bay Horse, Gray colt, 1 yearling, 6 cows, 7 hogs 1 white bull, 1 spotted calf, 1 speckled calf, canoe and interest in Ferry Boat.

Deed books rl, Page190 8th of October 1856. James Beets to George Beets, 190 acres for $ 23.00 in Anderson County, 11th District, it being the Real Estate of Daniel Beets deceased. Land included: Top of Chesnut Ridge, mouth of Big Dismal a branch of the Clinch, Pine Ridge. James is one of the distributive heirs of Daniel Beets, deceased.
The Webber and Beets family connect in a couple of ways here ..George Beets was married to Nancy Webber daughter of Solomon Adam Webber. Solomon was Casper's brother.
Casper was also the father of John William Webber who was married to Lucinda Beets.
From the 1850 Federal Census Database, Ancestry.com:
Birth State: NG
Cause of Death: Cholera
The 1850 census Page 41 Anderson County, TN taken Oct 1850 shows Sarah Beets (#585) near her daughters Elizabeth Williams( #587) and Lucinda Webber( #583) and their families.
In 1860 census pages 40/41, Anderson County, TN show Sarah Beets (#570) near George and Nancy ( Webber) Beets ( #568) with John Beets (#569) between . Daughter Lucinda (#667) is on page 46 with husband and family.
In 1870 census District 11 Anderson County TN shows
Lucinda Webber (#55) as a widow with Sarah Beets aged 79 living with her. This appears to be the last census entry for Sarah Beets.
I have been unable to locate the burial locations of Daniel and Sarah Beets or those of John William and Lucinda ( Beets) Webber. In fact John's father Casper Webber's burial location is also a mystery.
A number of the descendants of Casper's brother Solomon are buried at Mt. Harmony Baptist Cemetery in Knox County. Also buried at this cemetery is John William and Lucinda's son Calvin Webber leading some Webber researchers to believe that Casper, John and Lucinda may also be at this location.
I am trying to determine what connection George Beets was to Daniel and Sarah Beets. Some Beets researchers feel that he is the son of Daniel and then others say not. I would love to find out for sure. There has to be some connection--George shows up too many times. George was named Administrator of the estate of Daniel Beets Jr and Casper Webber was named guardian of his children in 1849.
I meant to add in the last message that George and Nancy Beets both died in 1891 and are buried at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Anderson County, TN. There are a number of other Beets also buried at this cemetery.
