Kathleen,

Hello!

My name is Lindsay and I live in Yorkshire England. I am
also chasing my families history. My grandfather, John Fitzhugh and his brother James', family came over to Manchester, England from Ireland. I know that I have distant counsins in America (New England I think). Should you have information to share, or if I can try to help please send a message back to me. Also you may be aware that there are not very many of us in England.

Thanks
Lindsay

My husband's great-great grandfather John Fitzhugh was believed to have come from Northamptonshire. He married Harriet Wyvill (from Mansfield) in St. Pancras, Nottingham and they and five children came to America between 1841 and 1851. According to old family letters, John's cousin Stephen Knight lived in Northamptonshire. I haven't been able to discover who John's parents were or where they lived. The June 1841 census showed that he was not born in Nottinghamshire as were his wife and children. Also, he was listed as a tailor. And according to letters, John had no sisters and his mother died shortly after he was married.

Hi Pamela!

I am researching the Fitzhughs of Denton, Northamptonshire. Do you know if they are linked to the Fitzhughs of Kinsthorpe? I would e-mail you but can't work out how to find your address.

Regards

Chris.
