Looking for the spouse of Catharine BOOTH TURNER. Have been going land deed by land deed of everyone around her on this Census and the previous ones to find mention of her husband. Her parents are:
Phillip BOOTH Will Martin Co., NC 02 Sep 1780
Elizabeth (Booth). He bought 275 acres of land on same date from John WEATHERSBEE for 5 pounds in Martin Co.NC. The land descended by will to Catharine. She appears on the 1830 Census as Katherine Turner with 3 boys under 15 years.
Her Son, (my 3rd great grandfather)Solomon TURNER married Temperance HYMAN (daughter of Ebenezer Hyman I and Temperance JONES)
I have all his information forward. Of Solomon TURNER's children, he had a son named Robert Phillip TURNER who married Lucy Edmondson (daughter of Joe Edmondson and Maggie). THey had a son named Ruel Elbride TURNER who is my great grandfather.
Has anyone heard of these TURNER's here or did they come in by spaceship? All of the above mentioned people lived and died in MARTIN CO, NC.
I ran across your query regarding the Turners and Booths of Martin Co., NC and noted that there is a Hyman surname in the people you are researching. While researching my Sherrod line, an internet aquaintance provided me with some material from a compiliation called Hyman Heritage, by Nathan Council Hyman. It included extensive information about the Sherrods, and may well include information about the Turner line since he married into the Hyman line. I'm afraid I can't tell you where to find the resource, but maybe having the name will help.
There were also Turners in the line I was searching, but they were from Halifax Co. Let me know if you are interested in them. Weathersby is another name that married into the Sherrod line, but I have found little about them. Lucretia W. is a direct line ancestor. Mary and Lucinda are in branch lines. (There has been a query about Lucretia's parents posted in the Martin Co. listings for some months.)
I am wondering if you have any info I can use. I
understand that some of my kinfolks lived in Martin
Co., N.C. at one time. My line comes from Thomas
Weathersbee B. about 1700; died 1774; married Joice
(thought to be the daughter of Hugh Watson.>>>I have
another source that says she could have been a

his plantation near Liberty, Amite Co., Miss. Can we connect?
I have a book that states Thomas Weathersbee Born Edgecombe, Later Halifax, Now Martin Co., N.C. He lived in Edgecombe County until that part of the county was taken into Halifax County in 1758, and then in Halifax County until Martin County was formed in 1774, embracing the section in which he lived. Without having changed his place of residence, he thus was granted land in Edgecombe County in 1756, made his will on August 17,1774 in Halifx County, and died in Martin County in 1774.
I then, asume that its all the same land or very close togather. Hope this little bit of History helps someone.
