I have done extensive research on several lines of the family and have arrived at my maternal great great grandmother and her father. My g g grandmother was Laura Lavinah Van Buskirk born 1-1-1831 in Ohio. She married George Downing 3-8-1852. She died in Cincinatti, Ohio 4-2-1870. Following her death George moved to Iowa by covered wagon. Laura's father was Jesse Van Buskirk and his wife's name was Fanny. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there? This is all I know of our Van Buskirk line. Thank for your help. Donna Love

My Van Buskirk line is gfather Charles Peter Vanbuskirk b. 1876 m. Minnie Consoer 1897.
ggfather John Van Buskirk known to have lived in Iowa who had at least another son named Abraham Lincoln Van Buskirk. The family was found to be in Champaigne, IL, Nebraska, and Iowa.

I don't see anything in my database that would
match us up. Your Charles Peter would match with
my Grandmother Ethel Downing in generations and
John would match with Ellsworth Downing. Ellsworth's
mother was the Van Buskirk in our family. I
have discovered a few more generations since I
posted the notice. They are as follows: Laura, 1831;
Jesse, 1790; Andrew, 1757, George, 1721; Johannes, 1692;
Andries, 1660; Lourens, 1630. If we have a common connection
it would probably be Andries or Lourens.
I am still trying to find if Laura had any brothers or sisters.

Jesse married Veronica (Fannie) Frantz, daughter of Jacob Frantz and Susanna Conrad. (Veronica (Fannie) Frantz was born in 1788 in Northampton Co, PA, died on 22 Apr 1859 in Putnam County, Ohio and was buried in Pandora Cemetery, Putnam Co, OH.)

Fanny's tombstone inscription reads: "Fanny, wife of J. Van Buskirk, died Apr 22, 1859, aged 71 yrs."

Jesse's tombstone inscription reads: "J. Van Buskirk, died May 10, 1863, aged 73 yrs. 3 mo."
