Hello,

I am trying to find out more about General Juan Antonio Menchaca. He fought for the Mexican Royalist troops during the Texas war for independence. He was originally from Spain and came over with 2 brothers. He received a large land grant from Spain and settled in the Helotes, TX area after Mexico lost the war (as he did not want to return to Spain). I found this information on the Helotes, TX Small Town project website. I am researching whether he was related to the Canary Islanders OR to Captain Jose Antonio Menchaca who fought on the side of the Alamo.

Thank you.

Hello I am trying to find my great grand mothers relatives. She is Sarah Amelia Menchaca (b.1895) and lied in Bexar Co., TX until mid 1930's. Her father is Alfonso Menchaca and her mother is Greforia Cassias. They had a son also. Her mother died when she was young she went to live with the Browns/Braun. Her father remarried and had more chioldren? I am trying to find out more info about her parents and other generations well along the way I found some items on Jose Antonio Menchaca (b. 1800) his first cousin Colonel Miguel Menchaca. I held onto them because that is about two generations past what I have - in hopes they'd be connected. Check it out The Handbook Of Texas Online www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/MM/fme15.h... & (Miguel's) www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/MM/fme12.h... (Jose's)

It's very interesting it states that he had 4 kids with Teresa Ramon. He too is from Bexar Co. TX (hence ? kinship) > He died 11/1/1879 an is buried in San Fernando Cemetery No. One in San Antonio

Also I found on this site under Mexican Birth Records a baptismal record for Jose Antonio Menchca daughter in 1834. If you need anything email me taytayschell@aol.com or if you find something Hope this helps.

Well... my father knows a little bit of our family. But I can Tell you that I´m Cassias (Maria Fernanda Cassias). We live in south of Brasil. There is a strange fact in our family. I think that was about my grand, grand, grand... heheh father. He changed his name from "ferreira da cruz" para "ato de cassias" with no reason.
