Hi there,

The Brugmans i am decendent of (there were 7 brothers who left Germany, a few went to South America, and my great grandfather went to Puerto Rico. There is a statue of him there. He was in a revolution in Puerto Rico. I am trying to find out information on his exact name and this statue.

BINGO! Hi Carrolisa! I am soooo glad you also posted your message here. I first saw your message at FamilyHistory.com who is not accepting postings at this time due to their upgrade.

I too am a descendant of the Brugman family you are researching. I have been researching our genealogy for many years. Please check out http://familia.rootsweb.com/familia.htm where you will find a a small portion of our genealogy.

The statue you are referring to is a monument to the Heroes of the Lares revolution at Lares, PR. Our rebellious ancestor is Mathias (Matias) Brugman Duliebre (my great great great grandfather) but he his misidentified on the monument. Got loads of info, get in touch!

Hi:
I am trying to get some information about my Brugman ancestors. I see you mention that in your research you found that some of them went to South America. My family is from Uruguay, South America (close to Argentina). We do not have any information. Can you tell me something about who went to South America in your family?

Thank you
Celia

Hi.

I don't know much about my Brugman family background. The only clues are a very old address: 20 Siller strasse, Hamburg, Germany.

My father's name was John Henry Brugman, american-ized from Heinrich Hans Brugman, born about 1916 to Margaret Brugman (nee Tietgen). Any of this sound familiar?
