Worcestershire Families

Classification: Query
Surnames: Farmer, Tolley, Griffiths, Shephard, Pitt, Pratt, Rastall
I'd appreciate information about any of the abovementioned Worcestershire families, and can offer fairly substantial assistance with the Tolleys and Farmers in return. Also any information regarding the effect of the Civil War on the keeping of parish registers in the county, and rural population movements from the mid-eighteenth century onwards would be very welcome. Is anyone else out there researching the parish of Upton Snodsbury?

My grandmother Mary Jane Pitt b Feb 1881 in Kidderminister, Worcestershire, England married my grandfather Caroulus Thurlow, in Coumberland County, Maine. Her parents were William Pitt and Jane Ayers. They also came from Kidderminster, England and probably came to the U.S. when my grandmother was about 3. Any information you have would be appreciated.

Sincerly;
Phyllis Birch

We are trying to trace further information on Rastall family
Our traces have shown our family were centred on pershore around 1850. With George Rastall marrying Elizabeth Harman
Ther is also a connection with Flyford Flavell where I used to spend summer holidays in a large house known as the homestead. We have names and dates of births relating to the Rasall family residing in pershore
Any information would be gratefully recieved

Hello Mike: My ggg grandfather Joseph Lauren Tolley was born April 14,1831 at Clap Gate Tower Agley Stourbridge, Worcester, England and married Jane Eliza Yardley October 15,1861 in Liverpool, Lancaster, England they had 5 children named: Phillip J.; Lilly; Anna; Mattie; and Samuel Joseph Tolley they arrived at Ellis Island in the late 1800's and moved to Kansas. Joseph and Jane Tolley are both buried at Delphos,Ottawa,Kansas. I sure hope possibly that we are related, because I've been running into a deadend. There was pretty much only 2 Tolley families in England, at this time. The other Tolley family went to Australia. Please contact me either way. Thanks Norilee

Tolley's Of Worcestershire

Would the Tolley's mentioned be anything to do with the Tolley's of Alfrick in Worcestershire?
In 1881 the Tolley's of Alfrick owned Foley Farm, they still frequented the village when I left in 1977. I believe if a closer search was done you would find the Tolley's in the village of Alfrick in the 18th century.

Hi Julie, Thanks for your response. I'm not sure if we have a connection but I will check through my files and if there is one I will get back to you. Will also keep the info in my "maybe in the future file".

Once again thanks. Lorraine
