I am looking for relatives of my great-grandfather, Horace W. Foulger (1865-1941) who was born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England in 1865. H.W. Foulger married Mary Snell at Yarmouth in 1889 and had two children, Grace Marion (1891-1969), and my grandfather, Horace William (known as Billy) (1890-1968). The family moved to Aberdeen circa 1900. My late father, Harry William Foulger (1924-1990), knew about cousins living in Yarmouth, particularly a Horace Foulger, but we lost touch in the early 1970's. Can anyone help?

Thanks for your help. Yes, this Horace was my great grandfather. I didn't know his mother's name so that was useful information to have. I did know his father's name was William and that he was a fisherman but I do not have the date or year of his death. I don't know whether Horace had any brothers and sisters, could you find out somehow? I understand that there are Foulger connections with John Wesley and I know our family were once Methodists.

Hello 5th Cousin Brian. I am Marion's elder Brother Desmond and would indeed be interested in seeing the fruits of your research. I am able to tell you that the first Foulger's came to UK with William the Conqueror and were given lands as a reward in Lincolshire. I just learnt this recently and as one who is not a great fan of the French was surprised to find a collaborator in our family history:-)

Our branch of the family has resided in New Zealand since 1974 and apart from an EW who still uses the name (she obviously recognises quality) We are the only Foulgers here with 3 children to carry on the family name. Look forward to hearing from you

Hullo Marion - just spotted your query, haven't been on Rootsweb for a while. I'm not sure if there is any connection between you and my own branch of the family. My great-grandfather, Horace William Foulger was born in Gt. Yarmouth in 1865 and died in Aberdeen in 1941. He was an only child. His father was William Foulger, fisherman and his mother, Eliza Barker, later ran a boarding house on Admiralty Road, Yarmouth. Horace married a Mary Ann Snell in Yarmouth in 1889 -they moved to Aberdeen in 1897. My great-aunt Grace (Marion) was born in 1891 and died in 1969. She never married. My grandfather William H. Foulger was born in 1891 and died in 1968. There were two children, my aunt Sheila was born in 1923 and my father Harry William in 1924. I don't where my great-aunt Grace's middle name of Marion comes from. My father met a second cousin of his (also called Horace) from Yarmouth in the 1970's but we never kept in touch.

Regards
William R. Foulger

Hullo Brian - It's taken me some time (!) to get back to you with more information about my family. My Great Great Grandmother's (Eliza) maiden name was Barker. She married William Foulger in 1857. I hope this information is of some use.

Many thanks

William R. Foulger
